I guess Joe Wagner is reading Wenblog. One day after my post he gives us some numbers. The important phrase in his artical is "crimes reported". We have heard in the past from many of the School employees that they are discouraged from reporting. An example from Joe Wagners artical this morning: "Final figures were not available for suspensions". Dont you think that suspensions would be reported to the man in charge weekly if not daily? Reported suspensions in recent years range from 12,000 to 15,000 in a student population of about 55,000. How do you know if you program is working if you dont have a running total of suspensions? How do you plan for a new year when you dont know where you stand from the year before?

Maybe they could lend them to the Cleveland School(whatever name)system to count how many children ride the bus, attend class, have been expelled, have dropped out, and the amount of teacher assults. May be they could tell us how much of the $14,000 per student this year goes directly to the classroom, as the school board can't. And maybe they should tutor Cleveland Students in math so they have a chance to pass a test.
