Review: State of Emergency by Patrick J. Buchanan

With the immigration debate coming to a head in Washington this past week, I thought it might make sense to spend some time reading former White House staffer and presidential candidate Pat Buchanan’s State of Emergency published by Thomas Dunne books in August of 2006.  The book which is subtitled: The Third World Invasion and […]

The weekend in PREVIEW

Make sure to stop by this weekend for my review of Pat Buchanan’s 2006 tome State of Emergency.  With all of the debate going on the last few weeks about immigration, I finally dusted off the copy in the booknook and read it.  I think you’ll be interested in what I found.
See you over the […]

Speaking of PBS

I was happy to see that Bill Moyers had a piece on the PBS front page which involved Victor Gold and the state of the Republican party.  We recently reviewed Gold’s book (Invasion of the Party Snatchers) on this page and it remains a high volume traffic recipient.
Even though I believe that Moyers provides a very […]

“Mika” means taste in the language of the MSM

I happened to be watching Morning Joe the other day when Mika Brzezinski refused to read the Paris Hilton story for the news segment of the show.  What’s now transpired into this week’s viral video seemed fairly contrived to me during the broadcast and now that it’s bouncing around the internet at high speed, I […]

There was a ‘debate’?

This is not intended to come across as a slight - I am being very serious here…
I did not know ANYTHING about last night’s forum for Democratic presidential candidates at Howard University broadcast on PBS. The first I learned of it was this morning with a story on the second page in the first […]

It’s not often that Washington has a good day

What else can I say other than occasionally, just occasionally the people who work for us actually do what they’re told.  Yesterday’s failure of the shamnesty bill in the Senate (and the associated waving of the white flag by the White House on the issue) marked a victory for we the people.  Then later in […]

Gilmore gains positive approval on the net

Interesting bit of information about how candidates in the 2008 presidential race are faring on the internet.  A study by the marketing and blogging consultancy Marketing Pilgrim found that the 15 out of 18 presidential candidates have majority negative search engine listings associated with their campaigns.
Here are some key findings:

Republican candidates managed only an average 42% […]

Yeah, but can any of them write a big check?

This about John “No Balls” Edwards from today’s Openers:

Edwards wins backing in Ohio
Posted by Mark Naymik June 28, 2007 15:57PM
Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards picked up a handful of endorsements from powerful Northeast Ohio leaders today.
Too bad they won’t likely help in the party’s primary race in which Edwards is trailing Hillary Clinton and Barack […]

This sounds alot like a certain stool in NE Ohio

Hmmm… big donors paying the county party stool’s salary because the party can’t raise the funds legitimately.  Gee that sounds familiar.
I wonder if Jacobson pledged to be a “full-time” chairman?

Reid=Failure=Immigration=Loser=Bush

Ah the sweet smell of failure.

This morning the current iteration of the immigration/amnesty bill died in the Senate as the proponents of this compromise legislation failed to earn the 60 votes necessary to invoke cloture on the measure.  What’s more encouraging is that they could not even muster a simple majority.
Today is a victory for the […]
