Jim Gilmore on the new immigration bill

This press release yesterday from GOP presidential candidate Jim Gilmore:

Jim Gilmore Says Senate Immigration Proposal is NOT the Answer to Growing Illegal Alien Problems

SPRINGFIELD, VA - Former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore today urged members of the U.S. Senate vote against the immigration reform legislation drafted by pro-amnesty Senators and the Bush Administration.

Gilmore, a nationally known authority on homeland security, said the proposed legislation “is a threat of our national security, a threat to our economic security and is not the answer to growing illegal alien problems.” Despite what its supporters claim, Gilmore said, “This bill is amnesty and it also would not only be a disaster for our efforts to control our borders, it would put at risk our already badly strained Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security programs.”

“I am a descendent of immigrants who came to this country legally to seek the American dream. I believe that dream should remain attainable for those who obey the law,” Gilmore said. “But we absolutely should not reward those who have violated our laws by giving them citizenship. We must find an answer to this crisis, but this legislation is not it.”

I ask you again, how can you not like this guy?
