Who would want that job (redux)
Now that Bob Bennett has officially tendered his resignation from the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, I’ve received a number of emails from folks asking if my last batch of potential candidates remains interested in the seat…
Based on the conversations I’ve had with interested parties, my two original selections Mike Wise and Jim Trakas have no interest in a place on the Board. It should also be noted that unless CuyCo GOP chairman Rob Frost is a liar, he has no interest in the seat either (Frost was definitive in stating that he would not seek a seat on the board in this interview and unless he was being duplicitous he will not seek the seat).
That leaves the group that applied in this last round for the seat vacated by Sally Florkiewicz and soon to be filled (upon official appointment) by Jeff Hastings. Those candidates were Gary Mays - a businessman from Rocky River, David Morris - an HR professional from Brook Park and Jeff Dean - an attorney and Certified Association Executive from Solon. Based on Dean’s volume of work and background, he stands head and shoulders above the rest.

Why not you, Wendell?

[…] Last week we posted another in our chain of CuyCo BOE updates in which we referenced a recent interview in which Frost claimed he would not seek the seat at the CuyCo BOE. Many of us were relieved to hear that the consolidation of the county’s minimal GOP power base to Frost would not include the BOE, but then Ohio GOP Chairman Bob Bennett and Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner could not come to agreement on Bennett’s exit terms from the Board.
