Imus on race

This morning on his radio/TV show Don Imus gave perhaps the most succinct and simplistic explanation of race that I’ve ever heard (it maybe a well-known analogy, but it was the first time I had ever heard it).

In a conversation with Meet the Press host Tim Russert, the I-man was talking about his son Wyatt and trying to explain what was different between black and white people. I’m paraphrasing here but…

The difference between white people and black people is nothing more than their color. Your mom has a white pick-up truck, I have a black one. You open the doors and they’re the same on the inside. Open the hood and they’ve got the same engine.

Man, I wish I had said that… but now at least I have a ready answer for when my four year old daughter poses the question.

    Each person is fair. The discrimination should not exist. I have read some article onEbonyFriends.com. the people say the great diffrence between the whit and black people is the color. the remain is all the same.
