Who would want that job?
On the heals of the news that Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner has asked for the entire CuyCo BOE to step down comes this tidbit from the gang at Right Angle Blog:
…I’ve been told that Cuyahoga County GOP Chairman Robert Frost, the Mobutu Sese Seko Kuku Ngbendu Waza Banga of the Cleveland-area RINOs, will run for a seat if Brunner is successful.
Geez, doesn’t he already make enough money? Although with the kind of grip Rob has on the CuyCo Party’s committee structure he might be able to do it.
I’ve always been under the impression that Dave Harbarger was the next in line to inherit the coveted $21K salary. Although he might not be so interested now that the job will actually require Board members to do some work.

[…] Who would want that job - a lot of people apparently… […]

Wendall
First, let me be very clear, I intend to support our present Board Members, Sally and Bob. I wouldn’t demean either of them or their public service and service to our Party by circling like a vulture over their heads as they fight for what they believe in.
Now Wendall, for someone who hardly knows me, never discussed any of this with me and has never had a serious discussion with me about anything, you certainly have some interestingly warped views about me. First, you have no idea of whether or not I’d be interested in the job. You have no idea of how hard I work in anything I do. You have no idea of what I know about the BOE, which in fact is a great deal. Further, you have no idea of my ethical standards. Quite simply, you don’t know me at all. Please refrain from making ignorant comments about any of the individuals involved, they only demonstrate your lack of knowledge, lack of experience and your many personal prejudices.
Assuming, which I do not, that the current members are unable to continue serving, my first priority would be to get our County Chairman on the Board. Historically, our County Chairman was always a member of the Board and I believe that practice should be restarted. For all the media hype and BS, which you seem to have bought hook, line and sinker, these positions are highly political positions as well as public service. Rob Frost would be among the best possible new members for many, many reasons.
As all the old timers (like me) know, the Board of Elections has a special place in my heart since working as a clerk there was my very first job in Cuyahoga County politics and government. I have very special memories of the place when Bob Hughes and Saul Stillman were the Republican members. I suppose those memories and feelings are part of the reason I find this whole mess so troubling. I hope to make a POSITIVE contribution to help our Party work it’s way through this mess.
One thing, and apparently the only thing, we do agree on is that Jim Trakas would make an excellent Board Member. Jim is an outstanding public servant and should have been our candidate for Secretary of State last year. In my opinion, we all let him down.
Also, I like the picture Wendall, it’s about 8 years old and my hair was much darker than it is today, I look younger and thinner………nice.
