The following takes place after the airing of each new episode of 24 on FOX…

Following their formula, the writers carried us through an hour of plot weaving as they built to the next big crescendo. Last night’s eleventh hour frankly was a little flat. Sure President Logan’s back and claiming to be born again (but I think there’s a little something more there) and a bomb went off in the same room as the president (we don’t know if he’s dead or alive, but based on the post show teaser I think it’s safe to assume that he will be incapacitated in some way), but…

I want more explosions, more killing, more torture - hey, I don’t watch this show for serenity to help me meditate, I watch it for (to borrow from the Bush administration) “shock and awe”. I’m assuming that the action will return next week as Jack visits the Russian mission and interrogates the Russian envoy in hope of finding Gredenko.

I’m getting a little worn on the Chloe-Morris thing… she annoys me as it is, and now her hen-pecking of Morris is just too much. Hanging out all day in that basement of a fortress called CTU would drive me to drink and then having Chloe nag you all the time -she’s like a scab that needs to be picked. Hell if I was Morris I would have been drunk, rewired the nuclear trigger and then begged Fayed to use it…

…to blow-up Chloe’s work station!

Just a few things for this week:

I think the bomb killed Assad as he leapt to shield Palmer from the blast and this will cause a further rift with the Arabs for the US. Look for Sandra Palmer and Walid to come back into the story as President Palmer recovers and he looks to find common ground with muslim groups.

Carson and the captive Lennox will be discovered by the Secret Ser

vice as they sweep the bunker following blast. Carson will die in the shoot-out and Lennox will survive, but will be taken into custody. Reed will then look for a way to kill him.

The bomb plot will lead back to this so far unidentified cabinet member played by Bob Gunton (pictured at right). He always plays a bad guy…

Look for some familiar faces from previous seasons to make appearances. Most specifically Martha Logan, Aaron Pierce, James Heller and Audrey Raines. Heller and Raines will be part of a team assembled to deal with the mess following the bomb plot and Martha will be in a relationship with her fomer body guard Pierce.
