Tim Ferris and “Stealyard” Commons

I came across this from Tim Ferris and his Save our Land blog via George Nemeth’s Brewed Fresh Daily:

The deal stank from the beginning. Our government and nonprofit representatives have been either self-dealing or incompetent and need to be brought up short.

There was a collective “no duh” comment from my friends in the land development industry about this “newest” bit of information as it relates to Steelyard. Everybody (and anybody) in the business is well aware of these tax abatements… in fact it was one of the questions that was posed to former council president (now mayor) Frank Jackson by local concerned parties at the time Schneider was beginning the process of assembling the land and commitments.

The real question here is what took the local media so long to happen onto this story. Could it be that they were too busy “believing in Cleveland” (or at least its cadre of leaders) to take a closer look?
