Which Is Worse
Last night as I watched the lead-up to President Bush’s announcement of the worst kept secret in White House history, my wife and I discussed the treatment the White House was receiving from the pundits on the air.
As we rolled through the multitude of broadcast and cable channels we happened upon MsNBC where they had turned over their entire day’s programming coverage to this singular issue complete with an on screen countdown clock. By chance, it was Keith Olbermann’s turn to anchor the hour-long segment which bordered on news but really served as an infomercial for Bush-bashing.
My wife who is so anti-Bush that she has actually turned down chances to personally meet the President was the first one to say something, “I kind of feel sorry for the guy.”

“No, the president,” she said sincerely.
I laughed and said, “Yeah, it’s not hard to see where Keith’s sentiments lie. He closes everyone of his shows by signing off with today is the xth day since Mission Accomplished was declared in Iraq. He really has a hard on for Republicans and especially Bush.”
“It’s almost not fair,” she continued. “I mean, I think the guy (the president) lied to get us into Iraq, but now he’s going to announce a new strategy and they’re already calling it a failure.”
Which got me to thinking, what’s worse - a president that people don’t trust or a media that is so biased in their perspective that it’s almost impossible for the people to ever really know the truth?
