Crazy is as crazy does
I used to like Alan Keyes. Even though I disagreed with some of his stances, I thought that among conservative voices out there he stayed true to his prinicipals and that was worthy of merit.
But enough is enough. Apparently he’s running for president – again. The guy has become a sensationalistic carpetbagger of the first order. All that’s necessary for him to become a candidate for anything is for somebody (no matter how crazy) to ask him to run.
Come to think of it, maybe we should ask him to run for Mayor of Cleveland – he’s crazy enough to do it.

What a joke. How much of our money (matching funds) go to nutjobs like Nader, Keys and Kuccinich who go on these self-aggrandizing campaigns? Absurd.
At least Alan is known outside Cleveland. I was reading a piece last night in The Economist (June 30, 2007, page 34) about how some mayors are becoming more powerful outside their cities and asked Gloria her take on the Frank Jackson situation, which we usually couch in terms of the “Where’s Waldo?” phenomenon. Together, we couldn’t figure how you could have influence or power outside the city if you couldn’t get up to speed within the city.
jim draper was the man in 2005. he was the best candidate in that race. i think he would have made a wonderful mayor for this town just when we needed someone of his calm, determined demeanor to bail out a sinking ship. i’d like to see him take another shot at it in 2009. alan keyes is an interesting guy, but i’m afraid he has worn thin. i voted for him in the primary in 2000 before settling on george w. in the general. glad to see rudy put the smackdown on hillary and moveon.org. WAY overdue.
