So sue me

One of my favorite standards of the MSM is the familiar voice of Paul Harvey (which soon may be replaced with the syrupy gravel tones of the “Southern Fried Reagan“ when FRED figures out that his is the current version of Wesley Clark’s 2004 presidential campaign).  Of all the familiar bits that Harvey provides, perhaps my favorite is when he addresses a story which involves an individual who wants nothing more than to have their name popularized through the sensationalism of the story that they dissemminate - and as just retribution, Harvey tells the story and omits the individual’s name by saying “they would like me to tell you their name” and leaves it at that.

So this morning when I read the news that Don Imus has simultaneously settled his breach of contract against CBS Radio for dismissing him in the wake of his unfortunate (and stupid) comments about the Rutgers Ladies’ Basketball Team (he of the Nappy Headed Hoes comment) and is being sued by a member of that team for “libel, defamation and slander”.  I’m certain that the team member would like me to tell you her name, but I won’t.  She is by the way using the suit as a method to (according to her attorney - who most certainly would like me to mention his name, so I won’t) “restore her good name and reputation.”  Also named in the suit are MSNBC, NBC Universal, CBS Radio, CBS Corp., Viacom Inc., Westwood One Radio and Imus producer Bernard McGuirk.

Happy to hear Imus is getting some financial restitution for his pandering removal on the part of CBS (and that WABC in New York is rumored to be interested in putting my favorite curmudgeon back on the air).
