Rove says so long
Well, the inevitable happened - Karl Rove has tendered (interesting word “tender”) his resignation from the White House, and the sharks in the media both mainstream and otherwise are circling looking for some trace of blood upon which to strike. According to the Wall Street Journal, Rove will leave his 1600 Pennsylvannia Avenue gig by the end of August.
Sorry gang, no blood (or smoke before the fire here) - just little if anything for a political (campaign) director to do in a lame duck Bush White House.
The next question is whether he’s got the fire in the belly for another presidential campaign… do I hear Fred Thompson?

Good riddance. Fred Thompson would be a fool to have Rove on his campaign, more baggage the the QEII. The Dems feared a man who really has left the R party in the dumpster. The Dems should be throwing a ticker tape parade in his honor.
Joe:
I’ve been waiting for 3 years for a GOPer to say what you just said. Nicely done.
Every time an administration runs for a second term they typically do so with a slash and burn mentality towards the party - hey what do they care, they only need to get into office one more time and then they’re done. It doens’t matter if its a Republican or Democratic White House they both have a party be damned philosophy (just look at Nixon, Reagan, Clinton, etal. and how they disconnected from the party in their second terms).
