As if the White House wasn’t stumbling badly enough, Dan Bartlett has found his replacement as the president’s senior advisor in the person of former RNC Chairman and long-time DC lobbyist Ed Gillespie.
With all of the scandal surrounding the political shakedowns of Tom DeLay, Bob Ney, Jack Abramoff, and the K Street Project, you’d think the folks at 1600 Pennsylvannia Avenue would steer clear of this kind of appointment, but as each day passes it’s becoming clear just how out of touch they are.
The only question now is when the direct mail appeals will go out from Gillespie inviting the GOP faithful to spend a wonderful evening in the White House’s Lincoln Bedroom in exchange for a big fat check.
