24; Day 6: 2AM - 3AM

The following takes place after the airing of each new episode of 24 on FOX

Thank God there are only three hours left because that smell eminating from your TV set last night was not bad wiring, it was bad television. Just as I was starting to give Joel Surnow and company a break, and letting the show’s writers and producers back into my good graces they snatch boredom from the jaws of excitement and lay out another hour of dud TV on this Batttan-like death march to the season’s end. This does not bode well for the show’s future continuation beyond this season (though like most dying programs, I’m sure we’ll see another season next year before the FOX folks decide it’s time to pull the plug). The on ly hope I have as a viewer is that they’re storing up as much excitement as possible for the final three hours… if not, I won’t bother coming back next season.

Highlights from last night’s 21st hour included the re-emergence of Marilyn Bauer and her son Josh, a return of the evil Phillip Bauer, the invasion of CTU by Cheng’s men and the killing of Milo. I told you in previous updates that the first would happen, the CTU invasion was obvious almost as soon as last night’s episode began, but Milo’s death did throw me.

I find it hard to believe that Phillip Bauer is the true evil mastermind for this season. If he is THE bad guy than we’ll still need to have a spy inside CTU and another inside the White House. If there is another evil genius out there… well that leads to my things for this week:

  • My bet for the overall evil genius - Vice President Daniels. Something’s just not right with him…
  • I’m still holding out that Nadia is the baddie at CTU. Someone had to leak the security protocols to Phillip which he then provided to the Chinese for their attack.
  • Look for Nadia to use Doyle’s “feelings” for her as a tool to manipulate him in the season-ending crisis situation.
  • At the White House, I’m still on board with the idea that Lennox is up to no good.
  • Look for Marilyn to reveal to Jack (probably in the next hour) that Josh is his son.
  • Everybody knows that Phillip is trying to take Josh to China with him - don’t be surprised if Josh ends up killing the old man.
  • Finally speaking of death, I just gotta believe that Jack’s going down this season (for good).

That’s all I’ve got. See you next week.
