24; Day 6: 1AM - 2AM

The following takes place after the airing of each new episode of 24 on FOX

No blood or guts, but the drama’s building and that’s just fine with me. Last night’s 20th hour spent a lot of time indoors with no shooting, no killing, no torture; but it also did something that the show has lacked in many ways this season - it provided a decent level of writing. I actually enjoyed last night’s program, and it didn’t include any of the things that usually make me want to watch.

Highlights for me in the 20th hour included the revelation that Vice President Daniels’ galpal, Lisa Miller, was duplicitous… no offense, but I told you this a few hours ago and this was vindication for me and her two-timing relationship with a Russian spy demonstrated it. Other items of note for me include the appearance of James Heller to collect Audrey, the emergence of Doyle as potentially a good guy by letting Jack rescue Audrey, and the ongoing he said / she said situation with Chloe and Morris.

My biggest question following last night’s show was what threads of the plot line will be taken through to the end and what will be discarded for future use (next year, etc.). Which leads me to my things for this week:

  • I think that Audrey is probably done for this season or will be involved in the season-ending cliff hanger. With Heller whisking her away it opens up some other possibilities for Jack and the plotline. Look for them to put her character away until next year.
  • Even though Lisa Miller was unmasked as the “spy” last night, she’s not the only connection to the Russians. I think the time has come to unveil the real bad guy on this year’s program - Tom Lennox. Every step of the way he’s been able to extricate himself and stay involved in the story. Hmmm, could it be that he’s got some kind of connection to…
  • Phillip Bauer? Phillip’s place in the story not becomes feasible with the Russians and war with the Chinese. I suspect he’ll figure into the story somehow.
  • Now that the micro-processor has been damaged and the Chinese need someone to fix it, look for Chloe to pull a Morris and end up fixing this part for Chang.
  • Finally, now that Audrey’s out of the picture the door is open for Jack to hook up with Marilyn and complete the family unit with Josh that I’ve been clamoring about since the season started. But Jack can never have a happy ending so she’ll either turn out to be bad or dead, or as I’ve been opining, maybe this is the year that Jack goes down for good.
That’s all I’ve got, tune in next week as we get one hour closer to the end.
