24; Day 6: 12AM - 1AM
The following takes place following the airing of each new episode of 24 on FOX…
If you’ve ever watched how an airplane pilot or captain of a boat lines up their respective vessels for final approach onto the runway or into the dock you see how the dip their wings or shimmy the rudder making minor corrections until they complete their tasks. The larger the vessel the more herculean the task of lining things up, and that’s the way I’m seeing this season of 24 finishing up. The writers have to take all of the plot themes and weave them into a cogent story thread that lines up and makes a safe landing at season’s end. Last night’s 19th hour was like the homing beacon that pilots rely on to find the airport and it helped to set-up the writers for their final approach into the show’s final 4 hours.
The question that I have as it relates to landing the show is what will the writers use for this season and what will they save for the next season (or movie). There are so many hanging threads - will Phillip Bauer re-emerge or is that for another time? Did President Logan die? Will the second President Palmer follow
his brother to an early grave? What did the U.S. give up to get the Chinese to return Jack Bauer? Is Audrey Raines a lost cause? Thankfully the show is mixing and matching all of these issues and others as we move to the finish. Cool.
Here are my things for this week:
- I’m even more convinced than ever that the villain behind the manipulation of the government is tied to VP Daniels confidante Lisa Miller. She’s only into this relationship because she can control Daniels. This has got to reveal itself in the next two hours.
- Remember how I said there’s more than meets the eye with Nadia? The writers may have tried to pull quick one on us by putting her into the clear so that they can surprise us by making her the ultimate inside spy at CTU.
- Look for an interesting twist with perhaps James Heller coming into CTU to takeover now that Bill Buchanan is gone.
That’s all I’ve got for this week. See you next time.
